SUMMARY:Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Cajalco Road I-15 Interchange Improvement Project
DESCRIPTION:CORONA\, CA The City of Corona invites the community to a ribbon cutting ceremony of the Cajalco Road/I-15 Interchange Improvement Project on Thursday\, March 5\, 2020\, at 3 p.m. The ceremony will be held on the future Bedford Marketplace overlooking the Cajalco Road Bridge.\n\n\n\nThe celebration will mark the completion of a $72.5 million-dollar project completed in partnership with the California Department of Transportation District 8. The project involved reconstructing the interchange located on Interstate 15 at Cajalco Road from Temescal Canyon Road to Bedford Canyon Road\, widening Cajalco Road from a two-lane bridge to a six-lane overdressing bridge on a new alignment. The new bridge includes a striped median\, outside shoulders\, and a sidewalk on the southern side.\n\n\n\nThe project reflects the culmination of public-private partnerships\, being funded by a development agreement with The New Home Company (NEW HOME) and federal grants. NEW HOME is the developer of Bedford\, a community planned to include more than 1\,600 homes upon completion and situated directly adjacent to the improved interchange.\n\n\n\n"It is an exciting day in Corona to see this project come to completion\," said Acting Public Works Director Tom Koper. "The improvements will increase the capacity of the bridge and ramps to reduce congestion and accommodate projected growth in the area."\n\n\n\n"The completion of the Interchange Improvement Project is the result of a successful public/private partnership\, one that we are proud to be a part of with the City of Corona\," said Leonard Miller\, President and Chief Executive Officer for NEW HOME. "This is a crucial transportation benefit for the entire region\, and we're pleased we could contribute significant funds to make it possible."\n\n\n\nAbout the City of Corona: Corona is located adjacent to Orange County California at the junction of the 91 and 15 freeways with a population of more than 160\,000 residents.
