Building the Road Maps to Your Goals:
How do you play basketball without a hoop? Or build a house without a floor plan? Do you start out on a road trip without a map? Or sit in a boat with no destination in mind, drifting aimlessly wherever the wind and currents may take you? We dream about what we want to do and where we want to go, but we have to have a plan to get there.
Do you have a dream or a vision for your life? Have you thought about what you want and how you can achieve it? With goals and dreams you have hope, things to look forward to. You suffer less from stress and anxiety, concentrate better, better self-confidence, perform better and are definitely happier!
Dreams are the kinds of things that someday you want to accomplish. Dreams represent what you want and “why,” while goals represent your plan to get you there. A goal is something that you, yourself, have the power to make happen. Your goals should support your dreams. You need both dreams and goals, but you need to be able to tell the difference between the two. Setting goals for yourself puts you in control – you choose where you want to go in life. The problem with mistaking a dream for a goal is that if you don’t succeed with your dreams, which may be out of your hands, you’re going to be frustrated and disappointed, which will drain your motivation.
Reaching a goal will however require more than just envisioning a positive result. We need to do more than simply scribble down some ideas on a piece of paper. Our goals need to be complete and focused, much like a road map.
Join us February 6 at 11:30AM at the Sizzler Restaurant (1461 Rimpau Avenue), where the Greater Corona Valley Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of Corona, is pleased to present “Building The Road Maps To Your Goals” as part of the Women’s Leadership Luncheon series. Our special guest is Karen Spiegel, a motivational speaker, experienced counselor and trainer as well as a local elected official. She has worked in many capacities in the goal setting process.
Tickets for the luncheon are on sale at the Chamber of Commerce. The cost for each luncheon is $25 for Chamber members and $35 for non-members. SAVE $5 IF YOU REGISTER BY February 1!! For more information, visit the www.MyChamber.org
