Mr. John Epps served the Coachella Valley for the past five years as a Consultant and Trainer for the Regional Access Project Foundation. In his role as a Director for the Center for Nonprofit Advancement he worked with large and small nonprofit organizations in the area to facilitate their strategic planning, organizational development, and capacity building efforts. He helped several Boards to successfully plan for their future in the fast-moving and evolving communities of eastern Riverside County.
Mr. Epps is formerly the Executive Director and Development Officer of Applied Principles for Service, a nonprofit organization that he founded providing Education, Community Wellness, Economic Development programs as well as Technical Services to assist local community and faith-based organizations. His responsibilities there included developing programs and seeking grants and funding.
Before his tenure at Applied Principles Mr. Epps developed a Welfare-to-Work Vocational Training program in San Bernardino, CA. The program received three grants from County of San Bernardino using State and Federal funds totaling over $520,000. As Program Director he initiated a Faith-based collaborative and established community linkages to effectively leverage the funding.
Me. Epps was an Instructor for the University of California, Riverside Extension for 15 years where his duties included the development and delivery of training courses and classes. He taught a wide range of classes including Management and Leadership Development, Nonprofit Development, Team Building, Communications, Personal Computer Applications, and, Information Technologies. He worked to incorporate a high level of student interaction in each class to encourage students to connect knowledge and practice so that they become more valuable assets to themselves and their employers. His background as a user, trainer, and consultant gave him a unique perspective for his classes.
