UCLA INLAND EMPIRE BRUINS ALUMNI CLUB and MUSICAL TRUCKIN' DOG ADOPTION PROGRAM . . . ANGELS SAVING SHELTER ANIMALS
Please Join us in our first gathering if you want to help our local shelters save their animals! Friday, January 6, 2012 at Carrow's Restaurant, 493 North Main St. in Corona, CA at 7:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M.
In one year this program has re-homed nearly 1000 dogs by picking up dogs in danger at shelters or having the shelters bring the dogs to our weekly, and more, on-site dog adoption shows, held at one of the largest TravelCenters of America in Ontario, California, where there are truckers from all across the nation and Canada.
OUR PRIMARY PURPOSE
To protect all animals from death, harm and any action that hurts them. Join us and make a difference.
THE GOALS OF ANGELS SAVING SHELTERED ANIMALS
❏Save the lives of shelter dogs in danger of facing death in our local shelters.
❏Help our shelters not have to kill the animals, by us getting their dogs homes, or taking their death row animals to our sanctuaries. Four million innocent, voiceless dogs and cats were killed in these facilities, and in some states, the death processes are horrifying.
❏Begin our work by changing the numbers of animals saved in our own Southern California and Inland Empire Shelter Community.
❏Continue assisting and re-homing animals from the shelters, not transport the animals to another facility or be killed, but to find safe and loving forever homes for these precious souls.
❏Educate the public, and the children in our schools, on how serious this matter of animal abuse and harm is in our nation, and that an animal is family, not something you just throw away at will. Killing and abusing an animal in any way is a crime.
❏Ensure spay and neutering clinics, working closely with our community vets, and stop breeders from breeding.
ACTIONS TAKEN BY THE ANGELS OF THIS PROGRAM
❏Our program has been working with Ramona Humane Society, and this new year we will be working with and assisting local shelters in Corona, Devour, Ramona, Inland Empire Humane Society and LA County Animal Facilities.
❏Our staff takes groups of dogs from each center, that stand to be killed, to our weekly events at the TravelCenters-East in Ontario, California where there are over 2500 truckers gathered at every moment, coming and going, and do our on-site adoption, placing these fragile dogs in permanent loving and safe homes, and giving every parent a "Doggie Care" package.
❏Our average adoptions per show day: 15-25.
❏For the animals not re-homed if they cannot be returned to the shelter, the animals will safely reside in our Corona, CA Sanctuary or be placed at our affiliated Southern Star Rescue Home.
Company History: Ms. Spirit, a Corona resident and President of the UCLA Inland Empire Bruins Alumni Club, has performed her musical concert show, Love My Truck Drivin' Man, at this TravelCenters for years. Then recently she began a "Trucker Pet Talent" contest, and driver after driver asked Ms. Spirit if she could bring dogs out there, as it was difficult for them to go to a shelter. The TravelCenters Corporate embraced the idea and the program began.
Ms. Spirit holds degrees in musical theatre and film from UCLA School of Theatre, Film and TV and has a passion for animals and bringing the dogs, and cats too, to these hard working people gave them honor and respect. Thru her music she now saves animals and helps the entire community and nation to save animals in danger of death. Her dream is to get this nation's shelters to become No-Kill, and she hopes you will join her in obtaining this dream. The arts can be a powerful source to get people to hear that changes need to be made and abuse or killing animals has to stop.
