Led by the Riverside County Transportation Commission, the 91 Project through Corona and Riverside is finally here! This long-awaited project will expand transportation choices, reduce delays, allow faster emergency response, relieve local street congestion and offer better access to public transit and trails – all of which will allow drivers to “Fast Forward” their travel.
The project will add regular lanes, tolled express lanes and auxiliary lanes to eight miles along the 91 between the Orange County/Riverside County line and Interstate 15. The project also will improve interchanges, bridges, ramps and local streets. Creating an estimated 16,200 jobs, the 91 Project also will provide a strong boost for the region’s economy.
Close to 280,000 vehicles travel the 91 daily. This number is expected to grow by another 140,000 vehicles daily by 2035. Traffic congestion on eastbound 91 between the 55 in Anaheim and McKinley Street in Corona is among the worst commutes in the nation.
