Fender® Center for the Performing Arts Home to Kids Rock Free® School of Music SPRING FLING
Corona, CA. April 27, 2015 Corona’s Historic Civic Center is the new home of Fender® Center for the Performing Arts, home to Kids Rock Free® School of Music. The new site was celebrated in Spring Fling on April 23, 2015 from 6pm to 8pm. The lesson rooms, studio, control room and admin suite were on display for all visitors. Student musicians performed and Raincross Drive filled the theater with their harmonies. Guests enjoyed refreshments and decorations that celebrated a legacy of Corona’s second high school built in the 1920s and the legacy of the Fender® guitar that took the music scene by storm starting in the 1940s.
The building’s educational origin is memorialized on its façade through symbols of academics and the arts. Kelly McGuire, Fender Center board president, said, “This historic structure is perfectly suited to teaching kids to make and appreciate music. Businesses and individuals are invited to donate to expand the school’s reach.” As a cultural hub, the Civic Center is drawing families to the classrooms and the theater. On any given day, across the campus you can hear the rockin’ sounds of students turning into musicians and artists. In addition to Kids Rock Free kids, you’ll find the symphony’s violin players, C.A.T.’s theater performers and Today’s Youth kids spreading their creative wings.
Kids Rock Free® School of Music teaches students how to make music. Sign up for the summer session now. Kids Rock Free at Fender Center fills the void left by the lack of music education in public schools because music students score higher on tests, stay in school longer and have lower drop-out rates than non-music students. KRF kids know the path to success is a musical journey. Kids ages 7 to 17 are welcomed to register for free or low-cost music lessons at KidsRockFree.org. No one is turned away because of their inability to pay. Check out Facebook and KidsRockFree.org for other events and concerts.
