The City of Corona has proclaimed Monday, April 7 as “Dine Out for Jordan Walker Day”. On this day, 26 restaurants will be participating in the Corona Chamber of Commerce’s “Dine Out for Jordan” Day. Jordan Walker is a junior at Santiago High School, who suffered a major spinal cord injury while playing in a CIF football game on November 22, 2013. Dine Out for Jordan was created by the Corona Chamber to draw traffic to local businesses on a usually slow day in an effort to raise a substantial amount of money for Jordan and his family. In addition to medical bills, the Walkers’ home will need to be remodeled for wheelchair access.
 

As Jordan works through a 12-month rehabilitation program at a specialized care facility in Colorado, residents are encouraged to dine out often on Monday. There is a wide variety to choose from: fine dining, fast food, coffee, baked goods, pizza and more. A flyer showing all locations and hours has been created and needs to be presented for credit to be received. Some locations will accept it being shown on a phone or verbally mentioned, but the majority does require the flyer, so please take extra copies just in case.
 

Support has been phenomenal for this day, and many people will be out at the various restaurants. This includes the Santiago High School football team, who will be dispersed across the city; Corona Chamber of Commerce CEO Bobby Spiegel, who will be serving coffee from 6:30-8:30am at The Silver Dollar Pancake House; as well as a select group of NFL legends, including Kermit Alexander, Reggie Doss, Efrain Herrera and Ricky Ellis, who will be at Buffalo Wild Wings from 6-8pm to sign autographs and encourage participation in dining out at the select eateries.
