How Colors Effects Our Mood
There are so many colors in a rainbow and each color affects how we feel. Color can change a person’s mood, attitude and perspective. It you think of the way we describe certain emotions “seeing red, feeling blue, green with envy, looking at the world through rose-colored glasses, mellow yellow,” we express ourselves through color.
Everything from the color on a wall in a room we are in to the colors we choose to wear can affect our moods. Warm colors can bring a sense of warmth but can also spark anger. Cool colors like a blue can be calming. Choosing colors in our surroundings can help or hinder our daily moods. Do you feel like changing your frame of mind for the better? Perhaps you should play around with colors when picking out your clothes, makeup and accessories.
When painting a room, think about what you want to feel in the room. The color you choose can very well determine the mood or mindset someone will be in when they enter a particular room. What kinds of rooms would benefit or suffer based on which color you choose? The colors of the rooms within your home need to bring out your personality. While most of us may not spend a lot of time thinking about room color, it affects every day of our lives. Room color can influence our mood and our thoughts, so when it comes to decorating, it is important to choose wisely.
Join us Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at the Sizzler Restaurant [MAP], where the Corona Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of Corona, presents "How Colors Affect Our Mood" as part of the Women’s Leadership Luncheon series. Our special guest is interior decorator Sally Kinsbursky-Sparks. May 1992 was the year Sally Kinsbursky-Sparks set out to make the world more beautiful one room at a time. Now, 20 years and hundreds of rooms later she is still on the same mission. As an owner of Decorating Den Interiors she loves helping her clients turn their house into their home.
Learn how every color can elicits a specific mood; for instance, red raises a room’s energy level and is a good choice when you want to stir up excitement, yellow brings cheerfulness and green represents growth and change. Dark colors are warm and give large rooms a more intimate feeling. Light colors make rooms seem larger and brighter. The color you pick makes a significant difference in the overall feeling in the room. What mood do you want to create and which colors will help you achieve that mood?
